January 17, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Happy New Year!

We have two great speakers lined up to discus best practices in visualization for our next meetup:

Theresa-Marie Rhyne will review some principles of color harmony to aid in creating visualizations and demonstrate the Adobe Capture and Pantone Studio mobile apps. CRC Press recently published her  book on “Applying Color Theory to Digital Media and Visualization” in November 2016.

Dr. Pamela Schultz will then lead a discussion on ‘Best (and Worst) Practices for Visualizing Data’.  The presentation will include some classic examples of how visualization can influence our perception of underlying data and include many of her own lessons learned from a career as a scientist, analyst, and her current role at Visual Data Tools, Inc.

We also invite others to come prepared to share examples of what they view as the ‘Good, the Bad and the Ugly’ in data visualization.

6:30pm – Doors open at the Biltmore Conference Room

6:45pm – Principles of color harmony (Theresa-Marie Rhyne)

7:00pm – Best (and worst) practices for visualizing data (Pamela Schultz)

7:15pm – The good, the bad, and the ugly (everyone!)

Water will be available as a refreshment. Looking forward to seeing you all there!
